I currently work with iF Foundation in Coronel, Milot, Haiti, as an intern, and receive supervision from System of Rice Intensification (SRI) Center at Cornell University. The iF Foundation focuses on improving agricultural productivity and farmers’ living in Milot area in Haiti. I have trained and helped technicians of iF Foundation to collect and process rice harvest data with scientific methods. Right now I am in charge of an SRI pilot project that aims at comparing SRI with the traditional rice production method and testing different rice varieties with SRI. After harvest, I will carry out an experiment on how rice grain moisture contents at harvest and milling would affect quality of milled rice. I am also working on developing a cell phone or tablet-based data collection methodology using apps like Magpi or Fulcrum. Other than these, I participate in the foundation’s other agricultural activities which include but not limit to planting, grafting, making compost, and harvesting.
